The Self fascinates me. I have been chasing after self discovery and self awareness for as long as I can remember. Documenting myself at during some of the more difficult times in my life. It is at these times of grief, longing, pain and sorrow that one finds a deeper understanding of life and his/her place in it. The further I have allowed myself to be open to such understanding the more empathy I have for those around me. It also allows me to wash away whatever burned I had due to the process, literally facing the issues head on. These Self-Portraits are a few examples of what happens when the camera becomes part of the equation, used as an instrument for deep self analysis and internal-exploration, aiding in the communication of our emotions, insecurities and struggles.
